Westside Workout’s dedicated team of instructors shares one common mission:  to bring Pilates’ transformative, healing powers to others.  Working together for ten years, they inspire each other and motivate clients with their professional expertise, unique styles and creative energies.

Joan Habschmidt

Owner

Joan Habschmidt, Westside Workout’s owner, has taught Pilates for 25 years to hundreds of people ages 13 to 92. She is continually inspired by her clients’ dedication to transforming their bodies and invigorating their lives. She is a graduate of PhysicalMind Institute’s Pilates Training Program and UCLA’s Certificated Program in Fitness Instruction. She has been certified as a Lifestyle Weight Management Consultant by the American Council on Exercise and as a Fitness Instructor by the American College of Sports Medicine. She distills her extensive knowledge of exercise physiology and biomechanics into simple guidelines that her clients can integrate into their workouts. With warmth and caring, Joan sets the stage for clients to achieve new levels of fitness and lead active, healthy lives.

Westside Workout is noted for its smooth operation and caring customer service. When you speak to Francine, Studio Manager for the past seven years, you will know why. Francine Zuck is right at home in the studio not just because she was a professional dancer, but also because she is a natural with people. Her organized and disciplined approach to managing the studio coupled with her warm and caring manner, will make you feel right at home. Both our clients, as well as our instructors value her considerate and professional ways.

 

 

Kiyomi Emi

A lifelong dance and fitness enthusiast, Kiyomi Emi was so inspired by Pilates that she became a Certified Pilates Instructor in 2000 studying under Master Teacher, Marie Jose-Blom. She has specialty training in utilizing the Trapeze Table for rehabilitation of chronic movement limitations. Having taught mat classes for over 10 years, she adds a unique blend of mat and Reformer exercises to her clients’ routines.  She creates an expansive, healing environment and inspires her clients to strengthen and heal their bodies.

 

Kathleen O'Neil

Kathleen O’Neil

Instructor

Kathleen O’Neil thrives on the special challenges of motivating clients of all ages and physical skills particularly those with chronic pain and rehabilitation issues. She is a certified Pilates instructor through the Sheppard Method Pilates Studio and for the last several years, has been working with patients of Jeanne Axler, M.D., a pain management specialist in Santa Monica. She has worked with Physical Therapists at Health Quest Rehabilitation Facility and for Dr. Allen Letgolts aiding patients with chronic physical issues. From classical ballet training to a recently completed mini-marathon, Kathleen has taken her lifelong enthusiasm for fitness into a love for instruction.

Patti Hernon has been teaching dance, yoga and Pilates since 1991. She directed creative movement programs for children at Montessori schools.  With a background in modern dance, she has performed with the Rudy Perez Ensemble and Melinda Ring Dance Project.  She has been certified as a Personal Fitness Trainer by the American Council on Exercise since 2001.  She combines her creative background with a broad understanding of Pilates’ rehabilitative powers to effectively design and implement routines that transform the body.

Jacqueline is a proud graduate and Certified Instructor of the internationally renowned BASI Pilates®, Body Arts and Science International. She holds an Xtend Barre Certification and has extensive experience teaching Pilates in West LA. She began Pilates in 2003 doing mat videos on her living room floor! From the start, she loved the distinct combination of stretch and strength conditioning. Jacqueline’s commitment to Pilates deepened as she developed better awareness, balance and overall physical and mental well-being. She strives to help others realize those powerful benefits. Her sessions are full of energy and a positive attitude! She genuinely wants to help you achieve your goals, stay challenged and have fun while doing it all.
